Camp Scholarship Endowment – Form
Over half of the campers who go to an Impact 2818 camp/event utilize some sort of financial assistance. The camps provide critical support to approximately 500 campers each year. Additionally, hundreds of churches and over a thousand kids are assisted by local church scholarships and fundraising projects that reach more critical needs, as well as, decrease the out of pocket expenses for families wanting to provide their children with a Christian church camp experience.
When churches first began utilizing camp experiences it was designed as an evangelism and discipleship experience. Unfortunately, the costs associated to programming, insuring, operating, and maintaining camps continue to increase. These costs leave some families on the outside due to financial limitations. Church camp should not be a luxury activity for those with the means. Instead, it needs to be an available tool for evangelism, discipleship, & development that knows no financial limitation.
This victory goal will develop an endowment fund to provide campers with scholarships to attend outdoor ministry events through the conference camping system.
Imagine hearing someone say, “I want to give my children the tools, experiences, and best chance of knowing and following Christ throughout their life; but, I can’t afford to give that to them.”
According to the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s 2015 KIDS COUNT® Data Book, 345,000 Hoosier children are living in poverty (1 in 5 children).
The Barna Group first identified that 2 in 3 Christians professed their faith before the age of 18.
According to the National Youth Commitment Survey, “A Christian Camp Experience with a program affiliated with the local congregation is the most commonly identified denominator in a youth making a faith commitment.”
These statistics point to a major concern where one of the most effective tools and doorways to a life of faith could be an impossibility if not for donors creating solutions.
Many Hoosiers live below the necessary resource level to afford a $400 per child, per year, to invest in an evangelical experience to develop their faith journey.
The proposed new Scholarship endowment fund will provide a solid foundation to insure that families with need are not limited from a camp experience.
- Scholarships from this fund will serve need-based families.
